The App Store Revenue Calculator is a free tool that computes your after-commission proceeds from Apple. Apple takes 30% of gross sales by default, or 15% if you qualify for the Small Business Program (under $1M in prior-year proceeds). Paid subscriptions are 30% in year one and 15% from year two onward, regardless of program enrollment. Enter your gross revenue, plan, and subscription mix to see net payouts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Apple take from App Store sales?

Apple takes 30% of gross sales by default. If you qualify for the Apple Small Business Program, the rate drops to 15%. Subscriptions are 30% in year one and 15% from year two onward, regardless of program enrollment.

What is the Apple Small Business Program?

The Apple Small Business Program reduces the App Store commission from 30% to 15% for developers who earned less than $1 million USD in proceeds (after Apple's cut) in the previous calendar year. You must enroll through App Store Connect to receive the reduced rate.

Do I qualify for the 15% commission rate?

You qualify if your total proceeds across all your App Store apps stayed below $1M USD in the prior calendar year. New developers automatically qualify in their first year. Once you cross $1M in a year, you move to the 30% rate for the rest of that year and the next.

What is the difference between subscription year 1 and year 2 commission?

For paid subscriptions, Apple charges 30% on the first 12 months of any subscriber's tenure. From month 13 onward, the rate drops to 15% for that subscriber. This is independent of the Small Business Program.

Does the calculator include tax withholding?

No. This calculator shows the amount Apple pays you after its commission. Local income tax, US tax withholding for non-US developers, and VAT handling depend on your country, treaty status, and W-8BEN form. Talk to an accountant for those numbers.

When does Apple deduct its commission?

Apple deducts its commission before paying you. The proceeds shown in App Store Connect Sales and Trends are post-commission. Payouts are typically issued monthly, around 30 to 45 days after the end of the fiscal month.
