বাংলা
Bangla is one of the few Indic localizations that reaches two national storefronts rather than one: West Bengal inside India, and Bangladesh as its own market. Bangladesh has a large, young, fast-growing smartphone base and almost no localized App Store listings competing for it.
India, Bangladesh.
This localization did not exist before 31 March 2026. Apple added it in the eleven-language expansion it framed around India, so most listings in this market are still English by default rather than by decision.

What breaks in Bangla
Bangla is close to English in width but its conjuncts are unusually tall, and there are hundreds of them. Two or three consonants fuse into a single glyph that can rise well above the notional cap height, so a caption box tuned to English clips a conjunct long before it runs out of horizontal room.
Bangla has hundreds of conjunct ligatures where consonants fuse into one glyph, so character count barely predicts rendered width
Conjuncts are tall, and a box measured on Latin cap height clips them at the top
The hasanta (্) is invisible on its own but changes the shape of the letters around it, so dropping it silently changes the word
Reph and ya-phala attach above and below, adding stacking a Latin line box does not reserve
You type. The canvas builds.
Describe your app, see your first set, then ask for Bangla. The layout survives the language change because you are editing the same set, not starting a new one.

Bangla sets, handled
One localization that reaches both the India and Bangladesh storefronts
Noto Sans Bengali rendering verified in exported pixels, conjuncts fused rather than broken into parts
The hasanta is measured at zero width and never orphaned onto the next line
The same set you built in English, retranslated in chat without rebuilding the layout
Exports at the exact dimensions App Store Connect requires for the bn localization
Questions & Answers
Does one Bangla localization cover both India and Bangladesh?
Yes. App Store Connect has one bn localization, and a user sees it whenever their device language is Bangla, whether their storefront is India or Bangladesh. You do not upload it twice. If you want different copy for the two markets, that is a limitation worth knowing about up front, because the localization cannot express it.
Why does my Bangla text render with little broken pieces instead of joined letters?
A font that does not carry the conjunct forms. Bangla fuses consonant clusters into single glyphs, and when the font lacks the fused form the shaper falls back to drawing the parts separately, which a reader sees as broken. Noto Sans Bengali carries them and we load it explicitly rather than trusting the rendering machine to have something suitable.
When did Bangla become available as an App Store localization?
On 31 March 2026, alongside Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Slovenian, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Before that date a Bangla listing was not possible, which is why so few exist.
How much longer will my captions get?
Roughly 10 to 20% in width, which is mild. Height is the real constraint: Bangla conjuncts are tall and a headline box sized for English tends to clip them before length becomes an issue. We measure the stacked height rather than the Latin one.
