What breaks in Marathi
Marathi shares Devanagari with Hindi but runs longer, because its verb forms and postpositions carry more inflection. A headline that fits Hindi at the same font size will often need one more line in Marathi, which is the practical reason to translate the two separately rather than assuming one Devanagari pass covers both.
Marathi uses the eyelash ra (ऱ्ह), a form Hindi does not, and fonts without it fall back to a visibly different shape
The candra vowel ॲ appears in English loanwords and is missing from older Devanagari fonts, rendering as a dotted circle
Longer inflected forms push a headline that fit in Hindi onto an extra line at the same size

Can I reuse my Hindi screenshots for Marathi?
They are different languages in a shared script, so no, a Hindi caption is not Marathi text. Even setting translation aside, Marathi runs longer, so the layout that fit Hindi frequently needs another line. Upload them as separate mr and hi localizations; App Store Connect treats them as unrelated.
When did Marathi become available on the App Store?
On 31 March 2026, in the same expansion that added Bangla, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Slovenian, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Apple framed the release around India. Practically, it means any competitive analysis you did before that date will show nobody localizing into Marathi, because nobody could.
Does Marathi need a different font from Hindi?
The same script, but not every Devanagari font covers the letters Marathi adds. The eyelash ra and the candra vowel are the two that go missing, and when they do they render as a dotted circle placeholder rather than failing loudly. Noto Sans Devanagari carries both, and we verify it in the exported pixels.
Which storefront does the mr localization reach?
India, the same storefront as Hindi. Localizations are not storefronts: a user with their device language set to Marathi sees your mr screenshots wherever they are, and an Indian user with an English device still sees your English ones.
