iPhone 16 Pro Max

Also known as: iPhone 16 Pro Max screenshot size, iPhone 6.9-inch

What is the iPhone 16 Pro Max for App Store screenshots?

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is a flagship iPhone (released September 2024) and part of the 6.9-inch device family App Store Connect treats as the primary source. Its display is 6.9 inches diagonal at 2868 x 1320 native resolution. The 6.9-inch slot accepts three portrait sizes: 1320 x 2868, 1290 x 2796, and 1260 x 2736. All three upload cleanly, so a set built at any of them is compliant.

Apple treats the iPhone 16 Pro Max as the primary device-family source. Screenshots uploaded at 6.9-inch dimensions auto-scale to fill the 6.7-inch, 6.5-inch, and 5.5-inch device family slots in App Store Connect.

Why upload to the largest device size first?

Auto-scaling from larger to smaller works cleanly; auto-scaling from smaller to larger does not (Apple won't upscale, and the result would be blurry anyway). Uploading at 1320 x 2868, the largest size the slot accepts, means the screenshot displays at full fidelity on every supported iPhone size with no manual per-size variant required. The two smaller accepted sizes are equally valid uploads and differ by under 5% in linear resolution, which is why a set built at 1260 x 2736 is not a compliance problem.

Most production App Store teams upload only the iPhone 16 Pro Max screenshots and let Apple handle the auto-scaling. Some teams upload separate variants for the smaller 6.5-inch and 5.5-inch sizes when the layout breaks at the scaled-down resolution (typical for caption-heavy designs where small-screen legibility matters).

How does this differ from older iPhone Pro Max sizes?

Previous-generation Pro Max devices (iPhone 14 Pro Max at 6.7-inch, iPhone 13 Pro Max at 6.7-inch) used 1290 x 2796 pixel dimensions. Apple still accepts 1290 x 2796 uploads for the 6.7-inch device family slot, but new submissions are expected to target the current 6.9-inch canonical size.
